Most of us have enough honorable/ethical framework to understand what's normal and what's good though.

I think Chris had no honroable/ethical framework. His parents just decided he's too autistic to be taught anything and gave up (which they may have been right).

Also Chris lived his life perpetually online and 95% of the time on 4chan.... which if you have no genuine ethical framework, can drive people crazy to dangerous extent.

And there were trolls here perpetually convincing him to do the wrong thing, for the lulz.

Admittedly, stories like Chris are why I took a 5 year hiatus from this site.

I don't think this site does *anyone* any favors for their mental health and if it was crap to begin with, it can make people do bad things.

He was never on 4chan. All his interaction with trolls happened on ED. He was groomed by some discord troons who convinced him to transition and eventually fuck his how mother.

Well, considering I'm the oldest oldfag here, I saw Chris's decline from the beginning. And the decline of numerous other /b/ celebrities.

And then I saw murders, suicides, and overdoses. A lot of mentally unhealthy people getting pushed over the brink by 4chan.

I had to take a break around 2020ish. Coming back only recently.

And it's changed a lot in the meantime. It's no longer the wild west of the internet. No raids, no calls to torture already extremely disturbed people (like Chris).

But that being said, the streak of brilliance is gone also. It's just another forum, honestly quite inferior to reddit at this point.

Even though I absolutely never fucked with Chris, I felt complicit in the way a lot of these people's lives turned out just sheerly by coming here and posting regularly.

Sure, I believe in online freedom. But there will be casualties of it, Chris being a great example... but I think the bigger failure was his parents never instilling any notions of normalcy.

You also gotta consider back then /b/ and 4chan were like a secret society (Rules 1 and 2). Everyone said they came from ebaumsworld or ED.... this also made it particularly easy to disavow a story like Chrischan and say that /b/ had nothing to do with it.

Most of Chris's legend takes place on /b/. So much that Encyclopedia Dramaitca started talking about him and it went from there.
