There's millions upon millions of people in the US alone who don't care about religion

Polls put Christianity at 62 to 67% of the country. We’re not going to beat these numbers. Face it, people fear death and more importantly they fear being cast into hell so they won’t be giving up their afterlife insurance anytime soon. I wish it were otherwise but it will never be. Humans are weak and need their stories .

and the past, of all human history, there have always been atheists, and always will be

You've still got 6% more to go before you guys can all come out of the closet.

the only thing that graph proves is that religions suppress views on sexuality, which is obvious as they do it explicitly, and they even kill gay people in some countries due to religious views

This. Atheists/agnostics need to stop banging their heads against the wall waiting for some post-religious world. It aint happenin. In all likeliness we'll probably see a resurgence of Cringianity in the West as the pendulum swings away from leftardism. Put your stock in advancing science & technology and stop worrying about enlightening the masses. Let the world do its thing.

I agree. I’m an atheist and I wasn’t aware there was an American Atheist site. What in hell is their purpose? What can they possibly do? I don’t believe in god/s and that’s it. I never think about god other than threads like this.

there's always these groups that try and co-opt atheism to further their own causes, or turn it into something else, like Atheism+ or some bullshit

Bottom line is that most of the normies that walked away from Christianity didn't do it because of serious philosophical convictions. It happened because it became unfashionable with the domination of secular leftism. They'll go right back to it because it was never a serious thing with them.

Can you imagine them going door to door?
>Hi, I’m anon with the American Atheists association. Have you heard the bad news… your god is nonexistent?

Religion is obviously bullshit, but actively going out of your way to try and convince people that god isn't real is just retarded and narcissistic.

>Atheism is the present

You guys usually deny this when it comes up in other contexts.

people are free to believe whatever the fuck they want, the problem comes when they want to turn their religious views into public policy and force it onto everyone else

under what premise does having religious views mean you can force them onto people who don't adhere to your religion?

You're creating an unprincipled exception around "religion" for no other reason than that it doesn't go where you want it to go. Christians have exactly as much right to try to advocate for their own beliefs as socialists, liberals, or any other group. It doesn't even occur to those other groups if they have a right to enforce liberal or socialist principles on society at large, so why should I worry about it?

>You're creating an unprincipled exception
how is it unprincipled? the principle is I don't want someone else's religious views imposed on me or anyone else
>Christians have exactly as much right to try to advocate for their own beliefs as socialists, liberals, or any other group
people can practice whatever religious views they want in private, just don't turn it into laws, it's not that complicated
and socialism isn't a religious view, it's an economic system, why even bring that up?
