Well my mother was raised nudist since her parents were very hippie-ish in the 60s. She carried this much more blasé attitude to nudity to our upbringing but we weren’t full-on nudist. My dad wasn’t from that background, so although nudity was more normal than other families it was not an everyday thing.

My folks saw clothes as a privilege that could be taken away. They always said they bought them so they could take them back. I think my mother saw that we weren’t as accepting of nudist things as she was and so saw it as an appropriate punishment. It didn’t happen too often and only happened a couple of times to my two brothers and sister. I acted up a bit so they took mine away a few times.

They once took my clothes away for a week when I was 11 or 12 because I broke my dad’s favourite tree climbing on it. That one was tough as because it was summer so they decided to take my clothing privileges away for so long. But once you realise most other kids are wearing something or they point it out… it becomes a bit humiliating. 1. I used to take swimming lessons in a public pool when I was in middle school. Usually we would have to put our clothes and backpacks in lockers inside the changing rooms.
