A lot of folks seem to forget their history these days. During World War II, it was the Soviet Union that lost millions of lives fighting the Nazis. Russia was our ally back then. They took the brunt of the war on the Eastern Front while we pushed from the west. Without their sacrifice, victory wouldn’t have come as soon or as surely.
But now, here we are in the 2020s, sending billions of dollars to Ukraine and Israel while American cities fall apart. Our own people are struggling, our borders are a mess, and inflation is eating us alive. Yet we keep pouring money into foreign conflicts like it’s our duty.
Russia warned NATO not to expand any further, but we kept pushing. Now we act surprised when they react. We paint them as the ultimate enemy while ignoring our past alliances and the complexity of what’s happening. It’s not about being pro-Russia, it’s about being honest with ourselves.
We’ve traded historical alliances for trendy causes and expensive wars that don’t serve the American people. Maybe it’s time to stop sending money overseas and start rebuilding our own country. Prioritize the folks at home for once.
