Why isn't all of humanity atheist yet? Why does religion still exist? Are we retarded?

Most of the world is still religious. The idea that religious people are all disciplined stoic warriors who refrain from pleasure and that atheists are all hedonists who only think about getting the next hit of dopamine is dumb.

There is an arrogance associated with atheism. How can you say you know the truth when our knowledge of reality is so limited, have you never experienced something you can't explain?

that's not what atheism says, and it's funny that you're getting mad at someone for having views they don't even have

no, agnostics are fence-sitters that can't make up their minds and want to hedge their bets
atheism just says if you want me to believe your claims about gods existing then prove it to me, otherwise I have no reason to believe you
it doesn't state that gods don't exist, because it's unknowable, but there's no evidence to suggest such a thing so it doesn't make sense to think that is the case

>Atheism, in the broadest sense, is an absence of belief in the existence of deities. Less broadly, atheism is a rejection of the belief that any deities exist.
>Agnosticism is the view or belief that the existence of God, the divine, or the supernatural is either unknowable in principle or unknown in fact.

it's "unknowable" in the sense that the claims about god being some entity outside of the spacetime of our universe is impossible to know from the perspective of a human being
this god could absolutely prove they in fact exist by just coming here and proving it themselves, so there's no reason to believe such a being exists
so yes, it's a lack of belief because there's no compelling reason to have such a belief, it was something people invented thousands of years ago, based on nothing

This is what the Bible warns about.
God is going to cast the Devil down among us.
Everyone will witness him falling to Earth. (Star called wormwood) He will not be a human, instead a supernatural being. He will lie and claim to be the second coming, and here to "rapture" everyone away. Believers and non believers alike will be fooled. You will finally have your proof and will convert and bow. I pray you remember this and resist. But 24 years of preaching tells me you probably won't.

>There is an arrogance associated with religion. How can you say you know the truth of creation of the universe and mankind based on stories written by bronze age goat-farmers' priests, when their knowledge of reality was so limited, and they never experienced or understood so many fundamental aspects of reality?

Our knowledge of reality while limited is still the most advanced it has ever been and only continues to grow. Luckily for us, religion is not only the belief in an abstract divine creator. Religious texts make many falsifiable claims about the history of the world and reality in general, and many of them are incompatible with our current understanding of reality.
As science has continued to advance, the gaps in our understanding that have previously been filled by mere speculation, conjecture, and myth are now being filled in with accurate knowledge.
The Earth is not flat, nor is it 6000 years old, nor is it the center of the universe, nor was it formed in 7 days. Life did not develop in the way that Genesis describes, and life is not accurately categorized by the Bible either. There was never a "great flood" which enveloped the entire world.
Theism is far more arrogant than atheism. Because atheism is only finalizing the trend of development in our understanding of reality. The gaps in our knowledge which god had once filled are shrinking, and soon the only gap left will be the creation of the universe.
Which, considering that there is no religion which believes in a completely non-interventionist God who merely started the universe; the only options left are atheism or deism.
Atheism takes this one final gap, the question of how does our universe exist in the first place, and from extrapolating the historical trend of religious and magical explanations of reality being replaced by a scientific explanation we can conclude that there is no need of the divine or the supernatural to explain anything.
At this point the only reason religion continues to exist is because it's the most successful scam in history. Religion as an institution is still powerful and pervasive in society and many con-men profit from its continued existence ripping off billions of people.

The short version:
Science has dragged religion through the mud and there's really no reason to believe in religion any more since many claims made by the Bible, Quran, etc. have been proven false. Science explains reality better and isn't a cult.

Extreme money addiction complete with strict Right-think and Wrong-think is a religion. Its false god will never bring anyone lasting, genuine peace but it's still a religion.

>Why does religion still exist? Are we retarded?

No, "we" aren't retarded. It's only you and those who think like you do who are retarded.

A study of history and the prophecies of the Bible, particularly in the books of Daniel and Revelation, proves that God exists by the fact that all of the prophecies leading up to the end time, except for the "mark of the beast", the last plagues, and Christ's return, have been fulfilled to the letter; and those prophecies are in the process of being fulfilled.

Prophecies of the years of Christ's birth, crucifixion, and resurrection were given to Daniel by God more than 500 years before they happened.

Also, Babylon's King Nebuchadnezzar and Daniel the prophet were given prophecies of the transitions of world powers from Babylon to Medo-Persia to Greece to the Roman Empire to the break-up of the Roman Empire, and the prophecy that no other world power would arise after the Roman Empire.

Also, archaeological digs have uncovered proof that Babylon, Sodom and Gomorrah, and other cities mentioned in the Bible that were thought to be mythical, really did exist.

There is proof that the Bible is historically accurate and that the prophecies were accurate and came to pass.

Those who don't see it are being willfully ignorant, and are rejecting the truth in favor of the lies they've been telling themselves.

if there were unambiguous and definitive proof of god's existence then atheists would accept that, but not before, they aren't unreasonable
but until that day they will remain atheists
