Why didn't Jesus appear in the old testament? Why did he wait so long?

He shows up a lot in the OT.

In Genesis 1, God says "Let Us make man in Our image, suggesting a Godhead trinity that Christ is a component of.

In joshua 5, Joshua encounters an "angel" who does something no other angels written about in the bible do: He accepts worship. This Angel is Christ.

In 1 Corinthians 10:4, Paul says the rock that Moses would strike for water literally followed them around and was Christ.

Jesus is prophesized about a lot in Daniel 7. His kingdom (the church) is one that will never fade away, and it was built without human hands like a physical kingdom.

Just a few examppes that come to mind.

why wasn't the old testament written when humans were created? why did it take thousands of years? were all humans just godless humans bound for hell before god bothered to clue them in thousands of years later?
