Yesterday parts of the US south experienced wetbulb temperatures up to 94F (34.5C). At these temperatures, no amount of shade or hydration can save you. Without AC, you die. And this is just the beginning.

People can survive in 90+ weather. I, along with much of the world spend my days working outside. I live in Florida. Yeah, its brutal, but not deadly, unless you refuse to take care of yourself. Just stay hydrated, and carry some Gatorade or pickles for electrolytes.

Not OP, but the wet bulb term means that the humidity has reached such a saturation point that your sweat can no longer evaporate off your skin to cool you. It hasn't been super common in the past from what I've read, but when it does happen, there is no amount of hydration or shade that will help once your body has lost the ability to shed heat.

I bought my elderly mother a nice water bottle and she's been carrying it around religiously for over a year now. It's the Zojirushi brand and I have one too. Old people are vulnerable because they don't feel thirst much and if they get dehydrated they might need to be hospitalized.

With young people, they are often more active outside and smaller bodies can't release the heat as well. I had heat stroke and dehydration in fifth grade, it sucked.

That said, we're still tougher than the British who start dropping dead by the thousands when it gets above room temperature. Pic related is from earlier this month.

The southeast has always been humid and has always been hot. It is true that sweating, typically an effective way our bodies cool themselves down, is ineffective in humid environments.

I don’t argue that it’s uncomfortable to live in; however, the claim is that everyone is guaranteed to die during the summers without AC. This is not true.
