So, that black stuff was an alien parasite. They would force test subjects to take it, and do... something. The aliens were trying to make alien human hybrids, and I think this was one way they were trying to do it. Or the humans were making slaves with it. The show has a lot of plot holes.at some point its revealed the aliens are a fabrication of the government but just kidding no they're not. I remember etching it as a kid and remember so much alien stuff, but then rewatched the series a few years ago, and most of it is like cryptids and paranormal shit, with a few episodes about aliens here or there
