The history of the Pickle Sandwich, sometimes called the Pickle Sand Witch, is shrouded in mystery. It was thought to be first invented in the 1800's, during the Extended Ham Crisis in Cuba. The Cuban's were struggling to figure out what to put on their Cuban sandwiches with ham and pork products being difficult to source. They decided to just use more pickles - and thus, the Pickle Sandwich was born.
The Penis Sandwich, on the other hand, was created in Germany some 15 years later around 1820. The word of the Pickle Sandwich had made it's way around the world, so the Germans had used their thick Gherkins to make their own version. Around 1820, the French discovered the German Gherkin Sandwich and, since they eat frogs, they though it was made using frog dicks. Because of these events, some consider the Pickle Sandwich and the Penis Sandwich to be the same things (the only difference being the Gherkin vs the Pickle).
