You didn't understand the profit aspect. There is a difference between earnings, profit, and expenses. The profit made from Healthcare in America far exceeds the expenses. That $9k could be much lower, and they would still have enough money to cover the paychecks of medical employees AND still make profit, leaving the customer with more money that they absolutely will sownd instead of hoarding that money in a bank.
