>>936558618I think you missed the message.
Everyone knows people have been oppressed, everyone knows these are issues.
I'm Left, not Right.
There's a very specific line to treat here, because automatically assuming people are Right because they're pointing out what's wrong with the Left is where progress gets denied.
I support visibility for minorities and oppressed individuals, but this is about a Flag that at its origins represented Gay/Queer people.
If you want an all-encompassing flag that adopts every single facet of Humanity that is oppressed you may as well add a color for starving children too.
See, this is where shit gets muddy; the more you add to the flag, the less impactful its original issues are. This isn't a perfect utopia where people will understand what every single color, every single stripe, every single symbol means automatically. We have to inform them, we have to teach them.
It's hard to teach, let alone preach any semblance of "We exist and want to be given equal rights" when your message is so muddy with a bunch of different topics and issues that the people listening can't follow, or refuse to follow it.
LBGT is its own thing, identities beyond this are fine, but they don't need to be added to the flag, they can fly alongside of it.
Race/Ethnicity... Spoiler alert, were ALREADY part of the Rainbow Flag, the Rainbow encompassed literally ALL people, but youth these days conveniently forget or ignore that when they do their research. -- This is why adding skin color to a flag that already represented you is retarded.
There are other movements for other things, like BLM for example, but.. wait, that also got hijacked by people who ruined the original message.
Funny how that happens to every single fucking thing that comes about as movement for positivity; nevermind the people who are against it, nevermind the bigots that spit at every turn to stop it, we got people friendly firing here because they're too fucking stupid.
