When you play a story-based game like Oblivion, do you focus on just the game?

I try to do so but I feel like I get burned out fast compared to when I have some show playing on my second monitor. I'm tempted to give up on such a rule if it means I'll actually finish games for once.

mostly, usually, head in the direction that the game wants me to go, do things that are along the way.

I haven't played a new story game in a long time. I think of skyrim, and becasue I know that game so well, I now kinda do whatever I want in that game.
I've done oblivion once, me tip for that game is stay on the path until you get though your first oblivion gate or get to the mountain temple. they will gear you out to take on the world and then you can do what ever you want.

Ya, I closed the kvatch gate with some difficulty, so I've been doing side quests and dungeons and what not to level up more before continuing the main quest.

So like, Mr. Iwata passed away, the old CEO of Nintendo. that dude was a legend, a great guy, a gamer at heart. He would go to major conventions and plug his companies stuff and see nerd that buy all his shit.
Then 2 new guys took over nintendo. these guys are not gamers. these guys are old fart business majors. they don't care about trust within a company to its consumers. they only care about money. they do not do public appearances outside shareholder meetings. these guys suck ass. and the switch 2 is their first product. its the first in the line of a major shifts in how the games industry is going to fall apart, as it has been for a buncha months now.

this is why Johnathan Robert From the PoE crew is a cool guy. 2024 was a rough year for them, they were trying to develop 2 games. and HE made videos telling the fans how he fugged up. how shit came up and He's not happy about any of it, sorry guys.
No other company right now had a CEO who does that right now. through the slog he keeps us relatively up to date with how it's going.
And then he had a video where he was confident that the company was back on track and things had been smoothed back out "We got our shit together" is one of the best things he has ever said. Instead of hiding in shame, he kept himself transparent, and as much as the fans were a bit frustrated, we never really lost thier trust.

When PoE2 was delayed by 2 weeks he made a video saying sorry about this. he said that what they had was actually playable, admittedly in a beta state. but there were other things they did not foresee. there were aparently issues with connecting to Steam that they were not confident they had not work all the bugs out of.

any other company would be all like, games delayed, no further comment.
