Yes. I'm too much of a zoomer to really make fun of the newfags to the scene, started watching when I was like 10 or so and everything was on youtube in 7 minute segments. I miss anime not being something you'd see everyone doing, not because I want to be better then the people around me that participate but because normies who call themselves fans of anime are so unfunny and retarded they somehow act even more retarded then the real socially stunted autistic lurkers like us.
For example I was talking to my coworker and we had this conversation.

I'm not just cherry picking this shit either this is like the most common interaction I have with people who bring up anime and I engage with them even a little, they say "I like X" and I'll ask them about it or whatever they're watching or what they think of the show and it's 9 times outta 10 either "it's been so long I don't really remember it that well" or "idk what it was called, I think it was that tho"
I genuinely hate talking to normies IRL so much, I'm not even an introvert or anything I like interacting with people and am good at it but everytime I try I'm left feeling like I just melted off a chunk of my brain which is saying something because I'm really not all that intelligent like the outside temperature here in the summer is usually higher then my recorded IQ
