If you have a different null hypothesis for this one particular species (that you just so happen to be a member of - making you personally biased) then you employing the logical fallacy: special pleading.
It may well be true that genes have little or no effect on human behavior ...but the burden is on you to prove that, because humans are just one of many species, and the default hypothesis is: genes.
BTW, I chose the cat-in-boxes example specifically to head-off an argument you may wish to make: that our behavior in a technological society differs from our behavior in nature. See, there are no boxes in a cat's ancestral environment ...and yet, the reason this behavior is so common in cats MUST BE genes - it's the only possible reason.
