Why is housing and apartments so expensive now? My cousin and her boyfriend had to save up 10 years of money JUST to afford a house. She spent 15 or more years as a babysitter and just only finished college a few years ago. Her boyfriend went from training to be a lawyer, drops out, becomes a Janitor, and becomes a CEO or President of some big company within a few years.

Depends on the area. Most of it is local governments, real estate developers, banks or corporations.
