Perhaps not a topic for /b, but what the hell. Perhaps you can offer some input or advice?

I'm in the sciences. My views tend to be rather center-left leaning. However, I have family that are far right. They have very strong opinions and use a lot of associative reasoning. Some of them are conspiracy theorists. They had trouble finding work because they wouldn't get the COVID vaccine. Personally, I actually think it's rather sad. I don't know how to help someone like that. I introduced them to the basics of deductive and inductive reasoning.

I think the most reprehensible thing that I heard them say was when they asked about my view on abortion. I told them that I am pro choice. I think it's better to grant the right for those in need rather than to deny the right entirely. They said that if a little girl gets graped and pregnant, then rather than getting an abortipn, she should carry to term, endore a 9 month pregnancy, and give birth to the child of a grapist. Growing up I suspected that they were narcissists or psychopaths.

Anyway, any advice or insights?

Anyway the family sounds rough to deal with as far as hard topics go, rape is a super intensely polarizing thing and some people can’t comprehend the damage it causes to a person or the variety of ways it can happen. There’s a good chance they believe if it happens a person (usually woman) did something to cause it or isn’t telling the full truth when reporting it. They don’t really give a shit about babies being born or killed they are judging the woman’s life choices. Usually anyway.

Well, originally I got an AS in IT, and then a BS in mathematics. I might work for a bit before doing post grad. I suspected that I could have just typed "rape" instreat of "grape" but I haven't been here in years and wasn't sure how the site has changed.

They do have a sort of red pill ideology. It's difficult to even keep them on track during a conversation without them jumping around with non sequitor after non sequitor.

I know you're just master baiting, here. On the very slim chance that you're being legit, you exude arrogance and snug superiority with just about every sentence you make. Gotta say though, it's a poor look that you take to 4chan to shit on your own family, and some level, I think that your family senses that you have that streak of illoyalty in you. And because of that, combined with that fact that your opinions perhaps is about 10% better informed than the rest of your family's opinions, they'll never change their minds, no matter what you say.

They are narrassistic pyschos. Conservatism is just every negative impulse turned into an ideology.
Greedy, hateful, self-centered, self-serving beliefs with principles that get abandoned and picked up when convenient.

The actions and views of conservatives make sense when you realize that their entire ideology revolves around them dominating everyone around them.
