Will camouflage even matter in the next 20 to 30 years ahead? With how warfare is looking to go, and how it is going now, where do you see various nationalities' uniforms heading?
>>936833308 (OP) Most wars are urban or countryside. Heat sensors and drones have made camo pointless. I think a lot of militaries will go with black, which is a poor choice. Darker greys and olive drabs are a much better choice. People don't realize that shadows are seldom black and grays and olive drabs blend into shadows more seamlessly. Dark blacks stand out in shadows and tend to draw the eye.
>>936833308 (OP) >UCP. >Desert camo at the back. Why did the U.S. replace the superior choice for the Iraqi and Afghan desert environments during the Global War on Terror era with UCP, which just looks like an urban camo?
>>936834088 i'd laugh if there was not countless example of burring tech that later became pivotal to win the war. the mosquito wood plane comes to mind.
>>936833308 (OP) those light ghillies combined with thermal fragmentation tarp seem to be very effective tho It will be mass produced, fire, fragment resistant, probably thermal non conducting and will likely include gambesons or protective inserts
>>936833308 (OP) Camouflage has always been a grift. Just dressing in a flat, dull color works just as good as any weird pattern does. All you have to do is hold still and hide behind or under something, and don't move.
>>936839754 Olive drab uniforms aren't even bad in a present context. The Israelis still use them, and I think several other countries might still have at least some of their forces with olive uniforms, such as Austria.
>>936839754 its probably effective at extreme distances but we have drones, satellites, helicopters, infrared cameras, high powered optics, etc. that completely negate any use camouflage has. To me it just makes them stand out more.
>>936833308 (OP) A trigger finger and the naked eye will never be obsolete on the battlefield. They have to wear gear anyways, so it may as well have a camouflage pattern.
>>936851555 That's why plausible deniability and Gitmo are things. Waterboard them and let Allah sort out his own anong the dead.

>>936834047 They spent a billion dollars trialing patterns that would have worked better, including one that was almost identical to multicam, and then some bozo in the Pentagon went nuh-uh I like the grandma's couch pattern.

>>936834047 It's funny because both camps in the pic work perfectly fine depending on where you are in that pic. Not sure why'd you'd be laying in a road though.
The thing you have to remember is if you think the US military is retarded just remember the other guys are liked 10 times more retarded.

>>936839754 It's funny because it's true. I always think of Jurassic Park when I hear this but when you're in the middle of the woods (or basically anywhere rural) if you do a 360 scan, outside of someone where white, black or safety orange.. you'll probably not see them if they're not moving. It's actually kind of fucking terrifying.
