I need to vent or hear opinions if someone has ever done something like this.

So basically, I live in a big city (not in the USA) with lots of 7 Elevens around the corner. One night about 6 months ago I went to a specific one searching for Pokemon cards. They had them in the counter and I grabbed like 10 packs and subtly stole 2 packs and put them in my back pocket. So essentially I spent like $50 worth of packs and stole $10 worth of packs. No one noticed and I left the store and that was that.

So yesterday I was driving by the same 7 Eleven and I thought there might be new TCG expansions that I was searching for (not even thinking of stealing anything, literally had the intention of spending around $100). So I asked the absolutely random cashier if they had the new expansions and he just said yes and was just looking at me and said "you stole from us". I was like "from us? what the fuck are you talking about?" And he said, "you came in January and stole 2 packs from us". At that point I was just thinking, is this guy fucking serious?

At that point I was studying this dude's face. He was angry as fuck. Angry with someone who hasn't thought twice about that event. Never in my life would I recognize him or ever care enough as to take a second look. But there was his smug angry face, like if I insulted him deeply, trying to defend this chain-store that is foreign to his country, from a company that is also foreign to his country.

I just looked at him with disgust and said "I don't know what the fuck you're talking about", and he said "I recognize you from the cameras". Well shit, I AM recognizable as fuck. I have long hair, long beard, piercings and tattoos, but to this fucker to still hold on to this... I just said "you should get a fucking life" and walked away, almost daring this fucker to try to stop or detain me. Of course he didn't.

I was perplexed as of how someone could be so lame and petty as to remember that. I actually felt bad that a cashier from a random 7 Eleven still remembered after 6 fucking months out of everyone that passes through the location, and I had to encounter the same loser as the cashier. Did this faggot hold a grudge against me that whole time?

A little bit about me: I did NOT need to steal, I make great money but at that time, it was such a thrill for me to do it and get away with it. And there's this faggot, surviving on minimal wage still holding a memory and grudge about someone who stole $10 out of an American convenience store from a Japanese company. Like dude, you're not a fucking hero.

So I guess I also have a couple of questions for someone who worked at 7 Eleven or similar convenience stores:
- If someone steals something from the store, does the cashier has to paid? If so, that is absolutely moronic but I genuinely have no fucking idea why this guy confronted me after half a year, unless he had to paid $10 from his own pocket, which again, is retarded af. This thought passed through my head and I kinda felt bad for him and genuinely wanted to pay him if he was forced to do so, but after studying his face I knew this fucker was going to try to get me and call the police.
- Is there a database where people are flagged? Like do they keep my face or video around? I know there is a limit for a misdemeanor if there are no charges placed after certain amount of time.

Like I said, I live in a pretty big city so it’s pretty much impossible for this fucker to track me down, but I also wanna know if I should lay low from 7 Elevens (I will definitely not go to that one ever again) but I pretty much walk every day to one, and they all know me and like me, would they know about it? If they did I’m pretty sure they won’t do anything because I once saved the store from getting actually mugged. Besides there are a lot of people in the city with long hair, long beard and tattoos. Oh well.

What's happening with the cashier, is that a man identifies with the store.
He doesn't work for 7-eleven, it his mind he is 7-Eleven. That's his tribe, his troop. In a very real way for him, you stole from him personally because he personally is 7-Eleven.
