Biden admin: Epstein files exist, Epstein killed himself, Epstein files are being used to convict so can't be released, victims don't have justice yet. At this point, people thought there were dozens of victims.
Trump admin said:
The FBI director has the files (Still a Trump appointee when this was said, Chris Wray, under Biden, but STILL, Trump's FBI director.)
We are gonna release the files.
The files are on my desk, im staring at them.
*Release of same redacted files Biden already released.*
Silence
There are no files.
The files are a Democrat fakery
So basically, the Dems have consistently said that:
Epstein killed himself
The files are needed to legally convict, and wouldn't be (legally) possible with the public fully in the know.
Republicans have said, essentially;
"The files exist and they're full of Democrats, it's gonna be nasty. The files are on my desk. Okay the files don't exist. Okay the files don't exist, but if they DID exist, then everything in them was made up by Dems like Obama."
That sounds, to me, like he did not find nearly as many Dem names as he hoped.
This isn't a bipartisan issue, anymore. It's clear that Republicans are the ones who need to be worried.
Dems didn't release it, because objectively, Democrats have followed the letter of the law in recent years, they just didn't ever show any reason why they would up-end that new trend and leak these docs before everyone in them was arrested. Unfortunately, Trump's first thing he did was full up the AG and FBI spots, and make sure the entire executive was his own people, basically every case related to Epstein was put on hold.
