For me it was seeing the encyclopedia dramatica furry page when I was in my early teens. Ironically the site that disparages furries has some pretty hot furry pics on it. I don't have a fursona myself but I've played around with ideas in my head, I think my character would be a feminine rabbit and I were to ever get a suit made I'd definitely like to get fucked in it.
