The cultural divide rarely matters with exchange students. They come over because they are interested/curious. They want something different and new. The best chance to hookup with them is soon after they arrive.
Unfortunately she was probably interested and didn’t get what she wanted from you so she looked elsewhere. She’s probably got the experimenting she wanted done with or realized she’s more special overseas and doesn’t have to settle as easily. That’s probably why she’s less responsive.
