it was of course also during the dot com bubble so getting on the 'net was advertised heavily, but it was still a pretty standout moment. like i never had the latest consoles, we had pay tv for maybe a couple months before they cancelled it, that kind of thing. i bought basically all my computer parts and games with my own money. if i didn't use it so much they probably would have stopped paying for internet access
