Happened to one of my grandparents, swelling is a result of the heart pumping less blood. Its called "Systemic heart failure" or something like that, meaning the heart is deteriorating. My family member died after 8-9 months of this.

From my experience, had a friend which one of his symptoms was edema of the lower legs, he died about 7 months after that from multiple ongoing chronic diseases that physicians kept treating.
Brother got leg and arm edema on top of heart disease, was bad but stable for months leading up to surgery, after surgery he died in less than a year.
So we can hope trump also has less than 2 years left.
