All broadcast television is free to watch (paid for by commercials). Anyway, doesn't PBS have pledge drives? Just because they stop being funded by taxpayers doesn't mean they would have to go away, necessarily. If not enough people would make donations in those pledge drives and it goes under, then that means it deserves to go under. But if people want it to continue badly enough they could donate to it and save it.
