yes it does. a $52 Days Inn room, on a musical act's tour, booked by the record label, who always scam bands by giving them an 'advance', a moderate sum of money that SEEMS like a lot, especially to a band who've desperately waited for a 'record deal'...

but that 'advance' always comes with caveats... always...

the BAND gets billed for the tour expenses... that's right.. the tour and any promotions associated with the tour (commercials on tv or radio spots etc) comes out of the artist's pocket...

After the fact...
And the record labels realized the artist had probably already blown through most of the advance money, so after the tour is done, there is a traditional process of getting the artist to sign another extenuating contract, to RECORD ANOTHER ALBUM... which sounds exciting, set it's to pay back the money for the tour ...

Record labels have been doing this for decades and decades, and they've done it to the very best most famous artists.. some of the most famous bands had to endure this process...

Until the third or fourth album...

It used to be the THIRD album when the record labels would give the artist a fair contract.. then when I was working for ZZ they were scamming the bands until the FOURTH album
