Castle is a pretty loose term to describe a building. you also have to remember that the US didn't have a feudal system that was infighting for a 1000 years. Euro castles were used to protect the people who farmed and worked around the castle from shitty people. US castles are kinda more fancy stone buildings with inspired facades because the US thought castles were cool and were built with little practically other than huge house in mind.
