Here's the thing. Sit down. It's story time.
Way back in the day. Used to drink the accursed double double. Buddy of mine at the time. Had a challenge. Let's see who could go black first.
Seemed like a neat thing to try. So off we went on our journey. Cutting the cream was easy peasy. Doesn't add too much flavour. Mostly just texture. So barely notice that.
Sugar was slowly weened off over time. While brew strength kept creeping further and further into the deadly tar territory.
I won the competition by the way. From what I recall he still has sugar in his brew.
But. Something happened to me along the way. Two things really. First is that I can't stand sugar in my coffee. One granule of the stuff just ruins it now. Even if I brewed my brew particularly tarlike and I'm trying to save it. The sugar is just bleh.
Probably because of the second development. By drinking it straight black as I do now, you get the benefit of the subtle coffee flavours. It's undeniably an acquired taste. But it's one you can't go back from.
So, to recap. As the saying goes, once you go black, you can't go back.
Crazy to think that phrase was always about coffee instead of cock like it's been assumed for so long....
