Half of my friends are women and my closest friend since childhood is too. Playing games, going out to walk around the park and visit museums, shooting the shit about whatever's on our mind--basically the same thing I do with my guy friends. I think in the modern internet age, men and women are more alike than ever. Just be funny (even in an eccentric way, Lord knows how weird I am) and not neurotic, you can be friends with anyone.

My best friend in high school was a chick, we tried the dating thing but it was awkward.

She was a gigantic nerd so we had a lot in common, mostly we just hung out and did normal shit same as I did with any male friend. Vidya games, watching shit, just general hanging out. Admittedly there was always a different kind of vibe cuz we both really liked each other but overall it was the same shit as with any other friend.

We go camping, talk about cooking, complain about work, talk about animals, talk about relationship issues etc. True, they don't share the same chemistry and interests as male friends but they are still good people to chill with.

My best friend is a woman, who's also 16 years older than me. Met when I was about 20, she was married at the time so even though I started to fancy her a lot over time it was never even an option to go romantic, and so it developed further than that and just became an incredibly close friendship. Speaking for myself, it's by far the best friendship I've ever had and soooo much better than being friends with a guy.

You can talk about emotions and feelings without feeling gay, she brings out the best in me and I'd do anything for her, she's been there for me when nobody else was. I love her more than I've loved any other person outside of family.

Also, it is cool to talk about sex stuff with her too. She has no shame and has told me graphic details of her sex life. She's like the least shy person ever, and really brightens up any room she's in.

Now there are downsides too, she has moodswings and acts like a bitch sometimes, but it doesn't even really bother me, because the trust and love is always there, and I know she'll always be there for me if I need her.

Probably more often than that lol, she started going through menopause earlier than usual in her late 30's so that probably didn't help. She doesn't take any shit either if you piss her off, I once saw her shove a full kebab into her husband's face (they are divorced now, he was a jealous prick)
