I hate the fact that I'm expected to pretend some guy is a woman when my eyes and ears tell me different. It feels like I'm being forced to deny reality and I resent that. For an example, it was recently revealed that a male character on the t.v. show House of the Dragon is going to be portrayed by a transman. This character is a teenage prince who has been training as a squire for many years. Yet the transman cast is a thin waif who it doesn't seem like has even begun to physically transition. Plus, they gave her a long blonde wig. The result is that this male character 100% looks like a teenage girl. But I'm expected to ignore that and just pretend I'm watching a young man who is trained as a warrior.

It's a bit more complex than that. Gender encompasses a complex set of factors - There's biological, psychological, and social factors all interplaying together to create a particular person's gender. Comes naturally to most people and typically aligns with sex, but obviously that's not the case for everyone.

Transracialism is primarily social factors, like where you were born. I'd have to think more about it, and maybe it's because I am trans, but there's a distinction between the two that I can't place exactly.


Non binary identities can be a little frustrating for me because if you aren't seeking hormones, it feels really silly to count as trans to me, but whatever makes em' feel better I guess.
