Not the end of the internet but definitely the end of the free internet. If you want to have a presence on the internet that you're in control over you'll have to find other people Like You in communities made for you. Maybe you'll need to take to Tor or VPNs to use them -- both of which are still, for the most part, safe as long as you're not doing anything blatantly wrong.

Trust me, every single one of these politicians are gooned out fucktards who need their porn and social media. If they can have it, so can you. Remember that the internet started as a bunch of little niche communities before it became a thing we all had to live on. It was better that way anyhow.

Like, one uncomfortable truth that people like us need to realize is that this kind of thing will not impact Most people the way it impacts us. It impacts us because we're passionate about it, or we like to goon, or we have subversive politics that go against the establishment either in a leftward or rightward direction. Most people are keen to just capitulate and comply and sell themselves to the highest bidder and that's been the truth since the beginning of time, hell, we elected Trump twice enthusiastically boasting that he'll be great for us even though he enthusiastically boasts that he doesn't give a fuck. It's going to take a long time before that conditioning is broken, and until it is, all we can do is keep trying to find our own ways instead of losing hope when they try to take it. We will always have a means of finding each other and getting our media out there.

Can't wait for this shit. The dumb cattle had 20 years to prevent this.
Ive been using torrents since 2002 and I never use a VPN on the dark web. This won't affect me at all.

VPNs and dark web protocols are next. Everything you do on the internet will be transparent and tied to your government ID and if you disagree, you're going to be called a pedophile terrorist.

Social media maybe for social clout but porn? Most of the non-pedo shitheads in the government are ancient ass crusty boomers who don't even understand how the internet works. They're the puppets of big corpo lobbyists who tell them the "free speech" of the internet is being abused to violet the law, so they wanna regulate it back to hell.

I can see the darkweb being used more and more even by normies just to excercise free speech while the clearnet basically becomes an ad-ridden bot-infested no-man's zone full of AI slop and globohomo propaganda, barely unuseable by anyone with a modicum of intellect. Of course nobody would use TOR as that is literally run by the FBI, but still - I can see people migrating to the anonymous (more or less) Darkweb in the near future.

Not all darkweb servers are hosted by government. Yes, it will become the next battleground after they've taken over the clearnet, but that will take a while. At some point we'll either have to learn how to become more tech-savvy and avoid government surveillance even on third-party platforms, or - preferably - we finally man the fuck up and destroy the governments, or at least the worst parts of it. I understand this is a david vs goliath situation but nothing ever worth fighting far was easy. We have the numbers, it's just nobody wants to throw the first stone (or drone strike).

The problem is that most people don't even give a fuck about privacy any more. They upload their whole lifes to social media.

It's not even about porn for me, it's you give them an inch and they take a mile kinda deal. Complacency just communicates that it works and they'll strip every single right away from us. I just wonder why they want total control of their population in the first place. It's beyond mere misanthropy, it's almost like they're afraid of the average Joe - who couldn't give less of a shit about rich and powerful assholes if he was left alone.

Government trust (or trust in any institution) is at an all time historic low, and that says a lot if you study human history. At some point this shit is going to boil over.

Shit like Visa/Master Card telling people who they're allowed to do business with is one of those things that'll do it.
