Tight fashion isn't cheaper in the slightest. Labor, tools, and time required to manufacture are the majority of the cost. That is why a shirt that is sized small is the same price as a large shirt the vast majority of cases. Beyond that with like XXXL shirts, it's not even the materials driving up the price, it's that it requires different manufacturing as it requires a different, lower volume assembly line.
Tight clothes are more expensive because they require more tailoring. A skinny suit that has very loose tolerance on the sewing will not work. However baggy boomer suits have a LOT more wiggle room for error. More precise manufacturing, or more steps involved (this includes more cuts that tend to need to be made with tighter fitting clothing) = higher costs. These costs way override the tiny savings one would get with less bulk cloth.
