They're part of the iconic experience. It wouldn't really be Morrowind without them.

Yeah, it really is. Has the best gameplay, story, and custom maps. I had spent 100s of hours in various TDs, siege, and PokΓ©mon defense maps. I miss that shit.

Perhaps, but Morrowind is better in general. Rich story, hand-crafted level design, player progression that has you feel like a god by the end, fun exploits that you can spend hours ducking around with...

Morrowind has it all

OG Oblivion is better tbh, they kinda botched the remaster. It's not shit, I guess, but the game they cobbled together was built on a base that doesn't really support it. I prefer the original jank

Morrowind was amazing, until I found a way to trivialize the game after only a few hours of play. It consisted of traveling north I believe and buying two ingredients infinitely from a vendor and creating potions. I don't recall exactly how but it was reproducible and I had potions that my xbox could not handle and basically invincible. Damn I wish now I could remember exactly what I did.

I should specify. I poured hundreds of hours into the game until I found this. So you create a new character, and after a few of play it would already be virtually invincible.

I would maximize the starting zone, taking everything I could. Even that stupid little wood elf sneaking about to get his amulet, or whatever trinket he hid. And then I would go faaaar north. Some town had a lb herb vendor where I could buy an infinite amount ofna certain herb and make potions, then sell them back and level up alchemy. After a while the potions were so strong I wasn't dying to anything and my poor xbox couldn't render the effects in real time. Super speed and light around character meant a frustrating amount of slow down.

I can’t prove you wrong because you are 100% correct.
Grew up playing it, played it hundreds of times since, and even played it multiplayer with a friend through TES3MP (who had only experienced Skyrim until that point)
Only games that even come close are System Shock 2, Deus Ex, KoTOR 2 and BG3.
Highly recommend Dread Delusion for anyone else seeking something similar. It’s not as mechanically or narratively in-depth, but it scratches that same weird alien exploration itch
