God I fucking hate these coil style heating elements on electric stovetops. Had a rental where only the outer ring would heat up or sometimes the inner ring would heat up-- drove me insane and the landlord wouldn't fix it. Couldn't boil anything properly, and everything that was cooked came out overdone in one small section of the pan but undercooked in another. I cooked a few steaks where maybe 1/3 was well-done but the rest of it was blue rare. God I fucking hated that piece of shit stovetop. Sorry for the rant, but glass electric stoves are infinitely better, fire/propane is best
