For the most part if you treat people with respect they will in turn treat you with the same level of respect.

True story and those very few haters who cannot abide by this simple rule are pretty much narcissists who cannot live by the golden rule and you should learn to disregard these exceptionally negative people as they are damaged goods. Narcissists are only people who encountered very traumatic cirucmstances as young people and have not developed healthy interaction skills with other people as they have a hole in their souls. It is nothing to do with you and everything to do with the wounding and distrust they harbour from their broken childhoods.

Highly recommend you do a deep dive into the topic of narcissism. They take several forms and I am admittedly one of those types of narcissists albeit one of the more docile varieties.
