>>938271790In my case it's because I actually started puberty early and I skipped two grades in school because I was gifted, so I entered high school at 11 years old when I was supposed to be in the 7th grade.
Thus, at a critical point in my life I was surrounded by classmates who were older than me instead of kids my age, and so I would always have a crush on older teenage girls at the time.
And being the "smart kid", these girls would always ask me to help them with class work or a lab assignment. I could tell that some of them did have a mutual interest in me, but at the same time I was extremely shy and had strict religious parents who would pick me up from school and prohibited me from dating, so I couldn't hang out with them outside of school.
Flash forward to today, where I work at I'm mostly surrounded by other men and I'm still pretty shy in talking to girls, so outside my family I haven't made too many social contact with the opposite sex.
