The servers took the job and agreed to their rate of pay. Tips should be rewards from the customer, not income expectations, and restaurants demanding it should be avoided / publically shamed.

Legit tip on $107.53 is probably half that, maybe $16 or so, after you subtract "meal tax", "hot foods tax", "TAX2", "sales tax", any alcohol, and that's probably 20 percent of the cost of the meal which was probably $80 or so. the few times I eat at a restaurant, unless there is no wait staff. at bakeries, pizza and sub shops, wing shops, take-out meals - minus fast-food. I cook better than most places so it's not often. also, mechanics, movers, electricians, contractors, landscapers, etc. if they've done a nice job.

I hate the tipping system because some actually do rely on tips, while others only work weekends and make six figures at a busy/expensive place. Food prices don’t seem to reflect the low wages either.
