Find the social media accounts of their siblings or family and close friends then take it from there either ask them directly for his contact detail or use that as a starting point

try to get his basic info first (DOB, full name, most recent address...).

you might have to just call your school and hope you're charismatic enough to get answers (or get a PI -or at least a PI licence- to help you)

from there, first step is unfortunately to check grave registries, that makes it more likely to avoid awkward moments

then you -just- have to follow the track, most likely to his parents and see where that leads you.
