Again, atheist speaking here. They don't "interpret it the same way" for a few reasons:
1. They don't actually study it.
2. The ones that study it usually don't do a good job.
3. They inherit a bunch of values from their culture, then show up to church believing what they already want to believe. If a pastor says their opinion is wrong, they say he's arrogant and then go to the church down the street.
If you're willing to recognize that the authors of the bible had an actual intended message they were trying to communicate and people aren't just supposed to be making shit up, then you already concede my point.

It's not my job to spoonfeed you information so you can try to wrap your little walnut around it. You have the internet. You don't want to believe it so you're going to rationalize it away, but here's some to get you started:
Leviticus 20:13
βIf there is a man who sleeps with a male as those who sleep with a woman, both of them have committed a detestable act; they must be put to death. Their blood is on themselves.β
Romans 1:26β27
βFor this reason God gave them over to degrading passions; for their women exchanged natural relations for that which is contrary to nature, and likewise the men, too, abandoned natural relations with women and burned in their desire toward one another, males with males committing shameful acts and receiving in their own persons the due penalty of their error.β
1 Corinthians 6:9β10 (NASB)
βOr do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor thieves, nor the greedy..."
1 Timothy 1:9β10 (NASB)
ββ¦ those who are lawless and rebellious, for the ungodly and sinners, for the unholy and worldly, for those who kill their fathers or mothers, for murderers, for the sexually immoral, homosexuals...and whatever else is contrary to sound teaching β¦β
