It doesnt matter outside knowing if a character if male or female.
Who takes who up the butt is what trully doesnt matter, one doesnt need to know sexual preferences, romantic history or how mentally ill a character identifies as in a game about shooting other people

Gender was just a more socially acceptable way of saying sex (noun) so they don't get it mixed up with sex (verb). Then it got co-opted by ideologues.
