Companies simplify their logos like this because it makes it much easier to print the logo and make merch. All the details on the barrel and the guy are a nightmare to cut out of vynil to iron on. A product etc.

The company I work at changed their logo from one with a globe and several words to a 3 letter abbreviation and an underline. Old logo was way cooler but cost like 10x as much to put on. A T-shirt because of the multiple colors and all the detail.

Corporate people suck the soul out of everything min maxing everything for profit.

Except its not reducing expenses in the short run (which is the only way corporate thinks) because changing a logo is a big deal when it means changing your signs, and everything else with your name. What likely happened is jew said, "we're associated with white people, how do we change that" and another jew said, "lets erase everything on the logo"

No, crackers used to be sold in barrels in bulk instead of individual packaging. It's a pretty typical thing from the old general stores which is what cracker barrel is trying to evoke with that name.
