I always wonder why the price of a gun seems so high ? Its just a bit of metal and some springs. Its no more complicated than a nail gun or a chain saw yet they cost less than half as much.

Americans dont really need assault rifles. They cause more white people to shoot up movie theatres and schools. Black people are more trustworthy.

But also reliability is obviously REALLY important. if a nail gun stops working you replace it, if your gun stops working you might be dead. so people mostly gravitate to the tried and tested stuff even if its expensive.

Much higher grade materials and tolerances. One time when building an AR-15 I needed to drill two dimples for the gas block set screws to bite into. Tried to use one a few of my regular drill bits and it wouldn't even get through the nitride finish. I figure oh well my drill bits are probably dull since the whole set has been used before. I buy a new Milwaukee bit from Home depot. It also is instantly killed by the barrel steel which is harder than the bit, didn't even start to drill. Have to order a tungsten carbide drill bit off the internet.

Lasers are actually surprisingly unregulated in the USA. You can order eye frying high power lasers on eBay and Alibaba shipped straight to your house with no background check or license needed. Flamethrowers are also practically unregulated. You can buy working world war II flamethrowers with no license or registration needed. Saw a WWII American flame thrower at a gun show for $10,000 and it was so tempting.

We didn't have mass shootings when schools still taught gun safety and marksmanship. My highschool still has what remains of its gun range and my dad took a marksmanship class that used it when he was a student there in the 1960s. The school just uses the space for storage now. It is an attic above the gymnasium.

Kids used to literally go shoot .22 rifles and pistols as a class in school. No mass shootings. Pump kids full of SSRI drugs, mass shootings.

Go to a certified range, get an instructor, and learn how to control the gun. Practice trigger management, loading and unloading.
