Left a really bad community.
It was hard at first and still a little lonely but I now get to enjoy my fish keeping hobby and vidya time again. No more dealing with negativity all day.
Comfy.

I don't actually keep fish, I keep shrimp and snails. But calling it fish keeping is easier. I guess it's an aquarium hobby.

It's a finicky hobby because there is endless amounts of false information on the internet and even the aquarium thread on an will tell you nonsense at times but it's worth learning. If you wanna have a tank, start with plants and snails. Those are near impossible to kill. And the bugger the tank the easier it is. Initial cost might be 2-300tho.. thanks and good equipment isn't cheap

I kinda figured, I keep up with a few things on aquariums and know they're hard work and have a LOT of misinfo but i'm determined since I also want to work with fish eventually, marine biology is a dream for me

The biggest trap are all those chemicals and water tests.. they will cost you a fortune and all suck ass. Forget test strips and liquid tests for parameters. Just get an electric stick thingy to shove in that reads you all the shit u need. And chemicals to change water are a scam. Marine life cares more about stability than about perfect conditions. Chemicals only temporarily fix those, they aren't a long term solution. Best thing is learning how to mix your tap water with RO water to achieve the best for your fishies. Just needs a few hours if mixing and testing..
And don't even think about salt water unless you are confident you are a god of fish.
Even sellers often lie to you to sell u products.. "hurr this fish needs at least 10 of its kind to be happy, hurr this thing needs exactly these parameters to survive so buy my chemicals".. it's all scam.

Good call. It's important to keep an eye on the communities you use and the effects they have. I have a policy where, if I notice I'm using a community in an unhealthy way, I leave it. I'm not perfect, but this rule helps me adjust if need be.

Neat dude, I used to have an aquarium I was really proud of. CO2 fed plants, natural substrate, small community of fish (a honey gourami, a small group of neon tetras, and a rainbow shark, ghost shrimp and cherry shrimp.

Usually, rainbow sharks and honey gouramis are pretty territorial, but because the plants were doing so well and constantly growing, the two fish hardly ever interacted and found their own little spaces to relax while the tetras chilled at the top and the shrimps did their thing. It's a very comfy feeling when you watch a nice biome you created thrive so well.

Plus shrimp fucking rock. Though the breeding can get a bit much.
