>42,000 US citizens dead last year in fiery auto crashes.
>over 100,000 life altering injuries
>billions in property damages each year
>only 900 or so cyclist deaths in these United States last year. 80% of those in accidents where the car driver was at fault.

Anon why arent you wearing your magic styrofoam hat whilst cycling? 0.o

>80% of those in accidents where the car driver was at fault.
lol, no. Every time I've almost hit a cyclist it's because they think the rules of the road do not apply to them. They don't ride single-file, they don't stop at stop lights or signs, they don't signal, they ride on single-lane roads and block traffic which piles up behind them and create demand to pass dangerously, they don't seem to value their own lives, really. They are, in a word, stupid and the world would be a better place if local communities and states would realize that the roads are no place for bicyclists and ban them when they can't safely share the road with motor vehicles.

Anecdotal evidence is anecdotal. And I drive and bike ride in and around Washington DC and most cyclists here are polite and friendly. Most of them also own cars and have jobs although plenty of homeless and jobless ride around on bikes too but they're easy to spot, lol.

Move out of Seattle if you dont like the cyclists but again I seriously doubt that more than a few of them are troublemakers. The polite ones are just invisible to you 4 wheeled terrorists.

You mean you dont like them so you're imagining running them over with your light armored Toyota tank. Got it.

Drunk with power. All of your 4 wheelers suffer this condition to some extent. You think pedestrians and cyclists should act like they fear you and your little tank.

Not riding single file is a douchebag move. I'll give you that. As for running red lights, who cares as long as they look both ways and arent being rude to other road users? I dont.

All too often I sit at lights waiting for nothing but the timer to run down on the green light going the other way with no one coming. I dont blame them for carefully running red lights.

And unless you're rushing to a hospital, theres no excuse for being rude to your fellow road users, IDGAF what you're driving. Bicycles arent obnoxious. Guns dont kill people. Spoons dont make you fat. People do these things.

If you have to make ad hominem attacks and assumptions it means you are losing the debate. Of course you'll just double down on assumptions and cheap insults. Thats how you are.

I never said I disregarded your argument. I simply regarded your anecdote as anecdotal and I offered my own anecdotes.

You were the one who led with anecdotes and are you now claiming that anecdotes are retarded?

Try to make sense. Thats all I ask.

>Complains about rude behaviour and lycra as if all cyclists behave this way.
Kek.

Next hes gonna say "hurr durr samefag" as if this somehow scores him points.

Understandable. I just hate the death count and all of the injuries. Oh, and not a fan of those microplastics but I did spend many years as a car owner and I still use bicycle and PEV tires, so..

15 minute cities? LoL no
Staying within your zone? Nope.
Government mandates? Oh hell no.
Eat ze bugs? Nope. I'm not that guy. Go eat a steak.

Neither of you have refuted OP's 80% stat, which comes with the corollary that 20% of bikers ARE at fault. Meaning both of you have experienced things that have been measured and proven to exist. We aren't in a black and white world where only one biker type may exist - both exist: polite rule following bikers, and retarded death seeking bikers. The fact you haven't met both is just a matter of exposure time and attention/perception.

Ok but why do we keep ignoring the 42,000 bodies that hit the floor last year? Hmmm?

Are the cyclists in the room with you right now? Are they in your head?? IN YOUR HEAD?? ZOMBIE?? ZOMBIE?? ZOMBIE?? WHATS IN YOUR HEAD?? IN YOUR HEAAAAAAD?? ZOMBIE?? ZOMBIE??

Woah, dont know what came over me there. Whew.

Oh, come on dude, I've seen plenty of cyclists around DC know stop signs, etc. TBF, when you're cycling you want to preserve your momentum and as a cyclist it's much, much easier to be aware of your surrounding and stop on a dime.

I'm probably going to bike on the C and O towpath today and that gravel HURTS

No argument here.

Your fault for choosing skinny tires and why the C and O? Why not the Capitol Crescent or some other paved trail? Even that bumpy ass Mt Vernon Trail is better than the C&O. Unless you ride on 700x38s or something chonky.

Jesus, how fucking retarded are you? I'm not offering any anecdotes; I'm just calling you out for disregarding someone's argument as anecdotal, yet then offering your own anecdotes as rebuttal. Now you're so fucking retarded that you somehow imagine me calling out your stupidity as "claiming that anecdotes are retarded."

Try not to be a fucking dipshit. That's all I ask.

"but muh freedom"

A bike is the literal definition of freedom, it can go anywhere, doesnt require fuel, doesnt get taxed beyond sale. Its also very efficient at energy transfer and doesnt produce fumes so any leftist will also be satisfied.

>Anecdotal
Hmm...

Number of bicycle commuters: ~900,000
Number of car commuters: ~124,000,000

Number of "US citizens dead last year in fiery auto crashes" as a percentage of all car commuters: 0.03%
Number of "cyclist deaths where the car driver was not at fault": 0.02%

Hmm. For number of hours driven, number of drivers of any experience level, number of miles driven, etc. it sure looks like cars are as safe as, if not safer than, bicycles. Especially since only effete cunts wearing spandex shorts putting their tiny penises on display actually, you know, commute by bicycle.
