Part of the "pay-to-play" dynamic isn't so much about getting or giving anything from newbies. The willingness to take that small leap, on a psychologial level, creates an underlying sense of investment. You put something in, for whatever reasons you choose to convince yourself of, and in a way it ushers in a more receptive mode. Most people tend to ~want something back, something out of the transaction. WANTING to learn, to grow, to understand, to explore, and to be exposed to new material and ideals is essential along this path. For those who absolutely don't ~want to participate, it's nearly impossible for them to actualyl get anything out of the lectures, lessons, and presentations.

For some of us, that notion doesn't come back all that naturally. For me in particular, I know well what you mean. It takes practice. Normies take sleep, rejuvination, and refreshment on a nightly basis for granted. For some of us, sleeping requires skills and arts to simply master the basics. If you're like me, an insomniac.border-line insomniac, then I suggest you take a day or two to study the art of sleeping. There's alot of simple things that people like us not only ~can do, but probably several things we HAVE to do in order to garner what others get so naturally and easily.
