Left the MAGA cult finally! Ready to do good and be better!

I grew up in a conservative household and have been apart of the MAGA movement since the beginning.

The last 6 months have been the most hateful, hurtful, and disgusting times of my life. Watching Trump dismantle public education, tear families apart, destroy democracy, manipulate the market, take away women's rights, destroy the trans community, destroy and try to profit from the destruction of other countries, and now try to hide his involvement with Epstein.

I can't take it anymore, the entire Republican party is out of control and I don't want to be affiliated with them ever again.

I am sorry to my fellow Americans.

What values made you want to stay for so long? And what are you least excited about in the democrats?

All the way back to when I was a kid I was involved with the Republican Party. Literally went around the neighborhood helping hand out pamphlets for candidates. Was a page at the state capitol for Republican reps and senators. Went to the March for Life in DC in high school, was later a precinct committeeman.

I changed my registration from Republican to Unaffiliated when Trump was given the nomination in 2016. Up until that point I'd held out hope that party leadership would step in, laugh at their idiotic constituency who had nominated Trump, and choose a real candidate to put forward instead. But that didn't happen, so I left the party. I'd always seen it as the party of sophistication and intelligence compared to the Democrats representing inner city hoodlums, but now the Republican Party had been hijacked by trashy people as well.

(Doubts had already started to form when I saw the sort of people involved in the Tea Party movement during the Obama years, and my experiences seeing the inner workings of the party as a precinct committeeman were also a factor.)

I voted straight D down the ticket in the last election. Not because I necessarily agree with their views, but because I hadn't seen a single of the Republican candidates stand up and voice even a hint of opposition to the MAGA scum who have stolen the party. And so if I have to throw Dems in front of them as a wall, I guess that's the best I can do until we see some Republicans with a spine.

I used to be leftist who supported Bernie but after the 2020 election.
I came to understand how corrupt the democratic party is.
it's clear that democratic party supports degeneracy of values and culture rather than helping people.
