This is a myth. Americans believe this because the companies they see that innovate are often American companies. However, their researchers are mostly foreign, usually Chinese or German, often working with a foreign visa. The reason is of course that Americans are retarded and uneducated and can't invent anything, but they have a lot of natural resources that make them rich. So they use those money to hire real people from overseas to do all the science. And because the company is American, retarded Americans think "we made this", when irl they just funded it.
And this is also obvious because of how much Americans distrust science. They think it's witchcraft and are actively fighting against all scientific progress. Their companies only use science because it's the most effective way to boost profits.
