If you're gonna kill yourself by jumping in front of a train, is it better to lay your head on the tracks or just jump in front of it?

Head on the trails is better but difficult to achieve. Only 33% of train jumpers succeed. The others got badly injured fron that stat. And there is another stat of jumpers who cant do it the last moment. Forgot about the number. They are not injured logically. So its the coffin, a mental institution, the hospital, combined

Jumping in front will cause dragging and possibly more painful than you’ll ever wanted or just not enough (so you become a vegetable) and you might hesitate in the last second while the head is fast but not a dramatic view after all

I witnessed a suicide by train. Was on the metro north line. 8pm weighting to go to work 3rd shift for security. When this white male in his early 20's jumped on the tracks heading north and started running for the Amtrack express. Hit him do hard his body landed 40 feet from the impact site. Cut his arm and legs off as it rolled over him .. Train stopped about 200 feet away leaving his mangled body on the tracks. Me and another guy ran over to see what we could do and all we could do is stand there and watch as the blood pored out of his wounds. He was not moving saying anything and his eyes were open one in the back of his head the other full of blood. Nothing could be done to help. All we could do is stand there and watch as he died. Police arrived 4 mins later. and i had to call my boss and let him know i was not making in on time. He came down to get me and witnessed the emt's carrying his corps off the tracks as he lived two towns over from me.. Death by train is fucked up both for you and those who have to sadly clean up your body and the mess it leaves. Plus the poor train operator has to have this in there mind for the rest of there life.. if your suicidal use a rope and hang your self no one other then you gets fucked up as yuo cause grate trauma to those who are just trying to do there job and life. ether that or go speak to some one and get help for the issues your living through..

(Not OP) interesting story, I disagree on the last part. Many people dont know how to do a proper noose that being said there are deaths known for people who did it with a lot less than a proper noose.

Long drop: you will fall but if your knot does not close rapid enough its torture. It will probably paralize you from the neck and the trick is to block both carotid arteries by quite some force. Those are things you dont want to be blocked or ruptured but if you fuck up you will hang paralized on a rope on a tree untill one of your bodies functions stops. Dont be the unlucky guy who lives for another two hours hanging there. Its torture. Those executioners in history of course knew ehat they did and preformed proper hangings but you dont want to survive that one.

Put your neck on the track it should be a pretty easy beheading but ofc your natural survival instincts won't allow you to do it.
Just make a fire pit in a room with charcoal, get drunk & go to sleep the carbon monoxide fumes will end you and you'll not feel a thing, you could also do it using a car in a small garage keeping the engine running but passers by might wonder why a vehicle is running in a closed space & you may get saved & be a vegetable
