A4 paper. a respectable and reliable choice, easily found - although quite bulky if used in any other practice beyond print for documents. (books, for an example.)
I am quite the fan of A6. Easy to carry around and good for quick notes, with just enough space for detail.

I personally still used a small notepad, simply because of how easy it was to carry around. Notebooks, while useful, take an excessive amount of space while always ending up mostly empty. More expensive, too. Generally an overall waste for something I will not use that much.
