If it's reported as white on black violence, no matter the context, then the left gets mad and cries racism. They can literally watch a news story that would report a black man trying to stab a white person to steal from the white person, if the white person retaliates in some way that hurts the black person then the left(especially black people) will get pissed and try to justify the black person's actions.
