There's always going to be cultural changes over time. When I was a newfriend in '06, I'm sure the true oldfags thought I was annoying, but things didn't get really bad until ~2013 when the internet went mainstream. That caused two big shifts: normie websites started banning unfunny racists (as opposed to funny racists, which is an important distinction for /b/), and every retard on Earth was using the internet 24/7 instead of just nerds with school/work/gaming computers. Of course, things are even worse now with all the bots. The entire internet is enshittified, not just /b/.

Kids like that would rather run a discord and feed some marketing ai for free. Adults are busy or have a faggoty agenda or were hired elsewhere to acquire the position. And hobby pioneers using community technology gated by investment cost and mild difficulty are playing with VR. OC producers moved to social media for their whoring mostly, and more recently there's no putting ai images back in the bottle. This place is fucking Stonehenge. Not even the people who built it remember what it was for. The world where the tool had a use is forgotten, but the form of the tool remains.
